About Rikki Jean

Rikki Jean learned the harsh realities of life at a young age, losing her father when she was just five years old. Growing up in Southern Mississippi with two sisters and a widowed mother, every step of the way seemed to get harder — but with every failure came a fiercer confidence.

Now rooted in Bloomington, Indiana, Rikki Jean channels a lifetime of grit into raw, unflinching blues and Americana. Her music reads like a book, each song its own chapter — dusty roads, reckless passion, deep sorrow, and the stubborn will to keep moving. Drawing from delta blues, country, and rock and roll, her sound carries the weight of the Mississippi mud she grew up in and the fire she built from it.

Across three albums — from her debut Rikki Jean's Glamorous Life (2014) through the haunting Darkness Surrounds Me (2016) to her latest Scrappy Little Dog (2025) — she has crafted a body of work steeped in true grit and the American spirit. Backed by some of Bloomington's finest musicians and recorded at Jefferson St. Music Studio, her songs hit with the honesty of someone who has lived every word she sings.
